Cooking Classes

Crockpot Freezer Soups

In this class you will make 5 scrumptious soups that serve 4-6 and freeze like a charm.  Just show up and all the ingredients will be there for you.  Be ready to slice and dice!   Perfect for the cool fall evenings!  It doesn’t get much easier than this.  Soups include: Chicken Fajita, Wild Rice, Lasagna Soup, White Chicken Chili, and Beef & Barley Stew.  Limit 12.

Baking Pies

Join us for this hands-on class on how to make a flaky pie crust and tasty apple pie filling.  Each student will work on his/her own pie and take it home for baking.  Please bring a 9” glass or ceramic pie pan to class.

Home Brewing 101

Learn the fundamentals of home brewing while observing the different steps of the brewing process, from boiling to bottling. Take a look at the different equipment used during each stage and leave with a basic understanding of the ingredients used to create the different styles, types and tastes. Samples will be available to try.  Must be 21 and over.

Its a Tea Party

Tea can be made from a wide variety of ingredients and can be used for different health benefits.  Join us for a teatime that is delicious and informational.  We will prepare and sample teas prepared from local plants and sample some exotic varieties as well.  In addition to learning the various health benefits offered by different types of tea, participants will learn how to prepare tea from a variety of readily available plants. Feel free to bring your favorite teacup to use for sampling!

Join the Challenger Design Team and show off your engineering talent as we investigate the engineering process.  All these activities are designed for 4th and 5th-grade students wanting to enhance their creative thinking.

FMS Weight Training Program

The strength and conditioning program at Franklin Middle School is provided to students who want to maximize their athletics potential.  Through proper technique and demonstration, the athletes will be able to excel in a safe, supervised environment.  We believe that each athlete needs a foundation in muscular endurance before ‘jumping in’ to heavy weights and compromising correct form.  By using periodization training, teaching proper technique and overseeing the athlete, The FMS Weight Training Program gives our students an advantage in developing their potential.

Create a Keepsake

Show your creative side by painting your own 4x4 tile.  Make memories that will last a lifetime.  Parents are welcome but not required to attend.  Parents can paint their own tile along with their child.  (No need for parents to register, just the child)
